As part of the live webinar series- SYMBINAR 2.0, we hosted Mr. Naval Sabharwal, Global Head - Supply Chain & logistics, Ramco Systems, who spoke on the topic ‘Disruption-Ready Supply Chains’.

Mr. Naval started by stating that technology plays a very crucial role in the supply chain of today and cannot be ignored. He then spoke on the real-world issues including points such as the omnichannel models- truth vs hype, safety stock out in market place models, the data capture of true consumption, external factors impacting true consumption, human versus machine-based rule setting, variation as the biggest enemy in the supply chain, the gap between the shipper & provider worldwide, and waste in supply chain, for example, the wastage in setup time.

Our honourable guest also talked about the current trends such as AIDCs for accurate sales and stock levels monitoring, replacement of money by coupons, data-based design and benchmark setups, historical sales forecasting data, supplier lead times accuracy, new product introductions to historical sales mapping, Flexi network models, back to centralization, and the world of platforms and marketplaces. 

Sir also talked about Covid-19 and supply chains wherein he explained the black swan and black swan shadows, centralized models doing better, automation giving an edge and the immense help got from cross-lateral team formation.

‘Digital is a journey from automation, optimization, intelligence and to experience’ – this pathway Mr. Naval explained to the students, emphasizing building fundamentals, and to grow on it.

In the conclusion, Sir spoke about the models to measure digital supply chains and the future of digital platform map. The session was followed by a Q&A Session where students came up with their queries and displayed their keen interest in the topic.
